Tallaght began as a village in rural County Dublin in the foothills of the Dublin Mountains. And while we retain our close links with our rural neighbours, we now recognise Tallaght as a bustling centre which combines village, town and suburbia. We have centres of education, healthcare, administration, sport, industry and retail. But above all else, we are a proud, thriving and diverse community.
Tallaght has faced many challenges since its birth as a new town almost 50 years ago. But as someone who is honoured to work in and represent Tallaght, I have come to realise that those challenges are being met by a response which defines the phrase community spirit.
Across Dublin 24 there are tens of thousands of people working not only for themselves and their families, but to improve the lives of those in our community our young people, our older people, those who are disabled, and those who are vulnerable. When we say we Love Tallaght, we don't just mean the place itself we mean this wonderful, flourishing community of which we are rightly proud.
